Have you ever wondered what to buy for date night, but don’t know where to start?

A date night can be a tricky occasion to pick an outfit for, you do not want to be under dressed, but you also don’t want to be overdressed. Depending on the kind of date you are going on will depend on the kind of outfit that you want to wear. If you are going out for dinner, you will need to determine the kind of restaurant you are going for, is it somewhere that is fairly casual or is it a high end place with the possibility of nice drinks after.

A fail safe outfit is either jeans or nice trousers and a blouse with either strappy heels or heeled boots. If you are worried that this will be too casual, add in a blazer, possibly something brightly coloured and some statement earrings. Another way to dress up a slightly casual outfit is with makeup, wear a nice lipstick or a glittery smokey eye. The possibility for date night outfits are endless and at the end of the day, it really does depend on the variables. To figure out which body shape you are check out our body shape post or get your own personal stylist for date night at your fingertips with the Shop You app.

Date night for an apple figure (show off those slender pins)

An Apple-shaped body is basically ‘circular’ in the middle, so you might have smaller shoulders, hips and legs, but a large chest and round belly with undefined waist. Pieces that work for you are V-neck tops, strapless dresses, mini-skirts!

Date night for the pear shape (with your fabulous curves)

If you’re smaller at the shoulder and chest but your body starts to go, then you’re the other fruity silhouette. Once you know how to flatter your bottom half you can go all out crazy up top. Pieces for your shape are knit tank, pin-tucked pleated skirt, high-waisted flared or boot-cut jeans.

Date night for a rectangle figure (you can wear anything!)

You can pull off (almost) any style. Also known as the more flattering ‘Athletic’, you can pull off wildly printed playsuits, voluminous sleeves plus belted waists to add curves to an up-and-down body.

Date night for an hourglass figure (with your to-die-for waist)

While it’s best to avoid high necks, ruffles and bows up top, you can get away with many other styles, including bodycon dresses and straight leg jeans. Your ultimate go-to is the wrap dress.
