No two bodies are the same – but how do we decipher our God-given body shape from a bunch of fruits and geometrics? U, our Ai stylist has chosen beautiful winter outfits for body “shapes” from Apple through to Inverted Triangle for a start (suggestions on how we may improve our shape definitions? please email [email protected] – we’d love to hear from you).

APPLE

An Apple-shaped body is basically ‘circular’ in the middle, so you might have smaller shoulders, hips and legs, but a large chest with undefined waist. Remember, as empowered consumers you can wear anything you want! But this winter, I suggest showing off your fit legs with leather leggings, balanced out by a soft pullover on top. Top it off with a trendy padded coat from Uniqlo.

PEAR

If you’re smaller at the shoulder and chest with more volume around your hips, you are “pear shaped”.  It took me years to figure out my figure and now I wouldn’t have it any other way. Once you know how to flatter, not hide, your bottom half it will revolutionise your style. If you are into the soft winter look, I recommend an off-the-shoulder knit (it seems counter-intuitive but we can make it work I promise) with a flared out pant. An off-the-shoulder top lifts the heaviness of winter fashion with a little bit of flesh which you can keep warm with a furry jacket.

HOURGLASS

Probably the most famous shape thanks to Marilyn Monroe and all her successors, the Hourglass has similar sized bust and hips with a well defined-waist. Though often called the ideal shape, finding the right thing to wear can be challenging, as shopping is hard for everyone (which it shouldn’t be!). My picks for this winter for you are nicely cut black pants with a coloured pull over. Want to be more adventurous? What about a teddy coat, a glamorous and on-trend addition to your wardrobe. Hopefully my picks have made winter shopping a little convenient for you!

RECTANGLE

Rectangles, you may miss out on a fruity description but rest assured you can pull off almost any style. With broader shoulders and consistent measurements throughout, fabric falls straight down from your shoulders, allowing for clothes to look like how designers initially drape it on the mannequin. This winter show off your athletic figure with a leather jogging and a soft jumper that falls straight from the shoulders. Add another layer of warmth with a bubble jacket, completing your comfortable, sport-chic style.

INVERTED TRIANGLE

Less talked about but still as relevant is the Inverted Triangle, another athletic shape often seen on female sports stars with broad shoulders and smaller everything else. This winter be bold by flattering and not hiding your build. A fun green jumper with ruffles, topped off with a leather legging will do the job. Don’t forget a padded jacket to keep warm.
